Who is Petite Etoile?

Bonjour et Bienvenue!

Thank you for your interest in Petite Etoile.  My name is Lisa Kaler.  Since the age of 7 years old, I have had a hunger for language learning.  On a family holiday in Brittany, I watched my Dad buy a cauliflower in French from the elderly lady next door and was awe-struck.  From that moment, I was hooked on speaking French.

I progressed through GCSE and A-level and at the age of 18 I took a gap year living and working on the outskirts of Paris.  Here I learnt real French and also a love of all things French!  A year later I resumed my studies at Kings College London and was fortunate to spend the third year of my degree working in the Rue Royale in Paris and living just behind the Eiffel Tower in Avenue de la Bourdonnais.  Quelle chance! I graduated in 2002 with a First Class Honours Degree in French and Management.

I became a French and German teacher in 2004 and quickly progressed to Head of French and subsequently Head of Languages at Sharnbrook Academy in Bedfordshire.   In 2018 and a mum of two girls, I chose to leave the teaching profession to start my own exciting venture.

Through fun, games, music and drama I aim to spark the love of language learning with your child.  In each session they will improve their listening, social and communication skills as well as their thinking skills.  This skill-set will help them grow in confidence and your child will be more successful in the classroom and beyond.  

In 2019 I decided to expand Petite Etoile to GCSE & A-level tutoring on a one-one basis.  Such a privilege to teach in this way - students make so much progress and it's so much fun too!
