Bienvenue! Welcome!

I am so pleased to be working with Milton Ernest Primary School.  Petite Etoile
teaches French lessons to year 5 and 6 and also runs a lunchtime French club,
open to pupils in all years.  Pupils can click onto the boxes below for additional
activities that are linked to their current topic of vocabulary.

What will your child gain by learning French with Petite Etoile?

  • Enthusiasm for language learning

  • Open mindedness and a receptive attitude to other cultures

  • Awareness of the French culture and similarities and differences to our culture

  • Knowledge of French grammar relating to nouns, verbs and adjectives which in turn enhances and reinforces the pupils’ general literacy awareness

  • Confidence

  • Teamwork and peer support

  • A growth mindset with a detective like approach to unfamiliar language

How do we deliver French at Milton Ernest Primary?

  • One 1 hour lesson per week with years 5 and 6.

  • Clear routines of meeting and greeting in French to help pupils feel safe and secure.

  • Lots of rewards to promote positive learning behaviour: stamps for effort each lesson which lead to prizes; star table awards for teamwork; french ambassador roles to encourage peer support and role modelling.

  • For French club pupils, a short video will be posted onto this website each week so that pupils can reinforce their knowledge of French at home, also enabling parents to help too!

  1. This week we are celebrating World Book Week with some fun activities.  We will be sharing with you a poem and we would like you to create a story map and act out the poem from the story map with lots of actions.  Watch the loom video that your teacher shares with you - these can also be found in 'Milton Ernest Primary French lessons' below.

Year 5 and Year 6: watch the loom lesson about the poem: 'Crayons de Couleur.'

  2.  Please email Madame Kaler with your work and if your parents give you permission, perhaps you can send me a video of your poem to put in the Milton Ernest Primary gallery below!  If you email, don't forget to say clearly who you are and which class you are from.
